Frequently asked Questions:
Question: Does your program accept International Medical Graduates?
Answer: Yes. Many of our current residents are International Medical Graduates. In addition, the presence of a major university such as Bradley University and a Fortune 100 company like Caterpillar add tremendous diversity to the Peoria community as a whole.
Question: Does your program have a minimum score requirement?
Answer: Our program requires that applicants who have graduated from international medical schools and performed their clinical training outside the US have passed USMLE Step 1, Step 2 CK and Step 2 CS by the time the application is submitted.
Question: Is US clinical experience required?
Answer: No. Successful applicants will have had recent clinical experience with primary patient responsibility. Patient care in the
United States is not required, but is a plus and strengthens your application. Observerships alone will not suffice.
Question: Do you sponsor visas, and if so, what type?
Answer: We sponsor J1 and H1B visas routinely for our categorical residency program. If you are requesting an H1B visa, you must have passed the USMLEStep 3 exam prior to the date that our program is required to submit its rank order list to NRMP.
Question: Does your program require a letter of recommendation from a U.S. source?
Answer: No. Your letters of recommendation should be from individuals who know you well and have worked with you. We understand that for some, it would be difficult to get a letter of recommendation from a physician practicing in the United States. It is recommended that at least two of your letters are from physicians who have been able to observe your clinical skills.
