From the Program Director:

Welcome to the Department of Neurology at the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria. The community of Peoria has a long history as a regional medical center in which the neurosciences have played a major role. This is truly an exciting time to be a part of the neurosciences and to be able to experience this rapidly changing field of medicine. Yet, as neurology continually advances its diagnostic modalities and treatment options, it is important to keep our focus on interaction with our patients. The ability to diagnose neurological disease using the tools that have been handed down by generations of neurologists is a cherished legacy that we strive to pass on to our residents.

Our department includes faculty trained in many different programs throughout the United States and the world. They have brought their individual experiences together to create a vibrant team of sub-specialized neurologists. Clinical trials and investigator-driven research are an important part of this teaching program. Our goal is to develop residents who are excellent clinicians and life-long learners. Residents work closely with faculty and gain increasing autonomy throughout the residency.

I invite you to spend time on our website and to visit the website of our partner organization, the Illinois Neurological Institute, to learn more about where we are and where we are headed in the future.

Sincerely,

Gregory M. Blume, M.D.
